Water Quality Protection

Comprehensive Monitoring Programme

Through an active partnership with Otago Regional Council, the property maintains excellent water quality across all significant waterways. Regular monitoring at established sampling points assesses multiple parameters including water clarity, temperature, conductivity, and sedimentation, while biological indicators, particularly invertebrate species populations, provide ongoing insight into overall ecosystem health. Riparian protection is prioritised through maintained vegetation buffers along all waterways, supporting both water quality and biodiversity outcomes.

Outstanding results

Over 18 years of monitoring demonstrates consistently high water quality ratings across all sample points, healthy stream ecosystems indicated by diverse invertebrate populations, superior performance compared to other land uses, and critical water supply protection for Dunedin's water catchment areas.
